Young Investigator Competition
Deadline of submission has expired.
A young investigator will be considered someone under the age of 35 years old on the 1st day of the congress or within 5 years of the award of a postgraduate research thesis (Masters, MD, PhD).
Young investigators are invited to submit a free text summary of research (500 words) that they have undertaken in the field of resuscitation. Young investigators will submit their body of work as sole authors.
They may acknowledge support / contributions from collaborators but the submission must be their own work. The best 4 researchers will be invited to present at the meeting. Presentations will last 15 minutes with 5 minutes for questioning.
Up to 4 Young investigators will be invited present at the conference.
All finalists will be provided with complimentary registration to the conference and to attend the faculty social events.
The winner will be awarded a certificate for the noting their achievement of becoming the European Resuscitation Council Young Investigator of the Year. Runners up will also receive certificates.
Submissions will be reviewed and by a panel according to the following domains:
- Importance of subject
- Breadth of work
- Methodological quality
- Publication track record
Up to four finalist will be selected based on these criteria to present at the Young Investigator Scientific Session at the Porto meeting. These investigators will be guests of the ERC and entitled to free congress registration and will be invited to join the congress faculty. The finalists will also be invited to join the editorial board of Resuscitation for 2 years.
Presentations at the congress will be scored by 3 senior members of the ERC. The highest scoring presenter will be awarded the title of “ERC Young Investigator Award 2010”.

The Young Investigator Paper has to be submitted before the 30th of September 2010 00:00 CET.
